Breweries, Distilleries, Wineries

Westtown Brew Works

  • A true Farm Brewery, handcrafting small batch beer brewed with their own hops and other ingredients grown by their farming neighbors. Tasting room open on the weekends featuring food trucks and music. [15 min]

*Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery

  • Located in the foothills of the Hudson Valley, between Mt. Eve and Mt. Adam, this winery is always a blast. They have a cafe, a store, a restaurant, live music, apple picking and wine tasting. A must see! [25 min]

Middletown, NY has a quaint downtown with several options [25 min]:

  • Clemson Bros. Brewery

  • Tapped (Equilibrium Brewery)

  • QB Ball: indoor cornhole, axe throwing, and “football bowling” with a bar.

Orange County Distillery at Brown Barn Farms

  • For cocktails, beer, wine, or cider, you can’t go wrong here. They also have tastings & live music on weekends, as well as a food truck on site. [30 min]

Pennings Farm Cidery

  • Enjoy unique ciders in the Tasting Room, which is the newest addition to this family-run farm that also boasts a market, café, pub, beer garden, & ice cream stand. [30 min]

Black Dirt Distillery

  • Enjoy a tasting of Black Dirt Bourbon and Black Apple Jack in the tasting room of the Warwick Valley Winery. [30 min]

*Newburgh Brewing Company

  • This brewing company honors the natural goodness of ingredients which shine through as simple and honest flavors. [40 min]

Brotherhood Winery

  • America’s oldest winery. [40 min]

*Tuthilltown Spirits

  • New York’s first whiskey distillery since prohibition located right here in the Hudson Valley. Incredible daily tours and tastings. [50 min]

Restaurants

Foundry42

  • A mix of coffee shop, vintage antique store, and gathering space for the community. [15 min]

Two Rivers Grille

  • Casual and relaxed dining room with American fare [15 min]

Bottoms Up Restaurant and Pub

  • All the locals’ favorite place. Big portions and friendly faces [15 min]

*Hotel Fauchere

  • Bouitque inn and restaurant. Very good wine and food. [20 min]

*Quaker Creek Store

  • Polish deli in the heart of “black dirt” farmland. Everything is homemade and delicious, including their smoked meats, pierogis, and sausages.  Open for lunch only. [25 min]

Middletown, NY has a quaint downtown with several options for food, ice cream, etc., including:

  • Nina: always voted best restaurant in the area. [25 min]

The Grange

  • A new farm-to-table restaurant that is already a favorite! Reservations recommended. 1 Ryerson Rd., Warwick, NY. [30 min]

*Glenmere Mansion

  • Deep in the rolling farmlands of the lower-Hudson Valley sits a magnificent 150-acre estate crowned with a spectacular hilltop mansion. Very fancy and very fabulous. [35 min]

*Bellvale Creamery

  • Voted #2 for Best Ice Cream Parlor in the US by Trip Advisor & somewhere you’ll find the CLE team often in the summer. Need we say more? [40 min]

Roundhouse at Beacon

  • Located in one of Beacon’s most beautiful and historic buildings. [45 min]

**The Heron

  • Although this is the furthest restaurant, it is our favorite. The ride up is lovely, as you follow along Hawk's Nest Road - one of the most scenic and famous roads in the country.  The restaurant is small and casual, owned by a husband and wife duo who are both Culinary Institute graduates. The food is phenomenal. [55 min]

Local Farms

Finding Home Farms Maple Syrup

  • Family-run sugar shack, where they actually use the sugar maples on the grounds of Cedar Lakes Estate to make the syrup!  Tours are by appointment only. [10 min]

Freedom Hill Farm

  • A small dairy farm now selling raw milk, yogurt, and kefir all made from the milk produced on their small farm. [15 min]

*Soon’s Orchard

  • Enjoy fresh-picked apples, real apple cider, homemade pies, donuts, and fudge. You’ll also find a local hard cider tasting room featuring local spirits. [20 min]

5-Spoke Creamery

  • Bring your bike and enjoy the picturesque farm, which makes some of the best artisanal cheeses in the country. [25 min]

*Blooming Hill Farm

  • Old-fashioned family values give the farm an atmosphere of warmth and welcome. Enjoy a farmer’s market daily and an adorable cafe that serves brunch on the weekends. [35 min]

Other Activities

Highpoint State Park

  • Highpoint is only a few miles away and offers hiking, mountain biking trails, swimming, and fishing. In the winter they have exceptional cross-country skiing. Don’t miss the great view from Highpoint Monument. [10 min]

D&H Canal & Gravity Railroad Trail

  • The historic D&H canal connected the Delaware and Hudson rivers and was an important economic driver in the region beginning in the early 1800s. The Minisink Valley Historical Society runs the Fort Decker Museum of History tour. [20 min]
